Kids Shame Workmen By Fixing Potholes In Road

A group of kids have been praised for their can-do attitude after repairing a pothole in a road when local officials failed to undertake the task.

Locals in the town of Kanash in Central Russia’s Kuvash Republic became understandably dismayed when workmen continually failed to fill in huge potholes that were blighting nearby roads.

But nine children decided to take matters into their own hands and impressed residents by filling in the holes by themselves.

The boys, named Kirill, Roman, Anton, Mikhail, Stepan, Vladimir, Maxim, Ivan and Gleb, used clay and sand to repair huge potholes - and their actions have now gone viral.

Photos show the boys hard at work, and they were even given money by passing motorists who were impressed with their handiwork.

Praising their work, local woman Larisa Petrova said: ‘It’s not the first time that they have repaired this ruined road.

“First they used sand but that was washed away by the rain so they did it again with clay. They brought all the materials with them in a cart.

“I’m thinking of raising a petition about the state of the roads and going to the administration. They should be ashamed that kids are doing their job.”

Russians roads are considered to be among the worst in the world, and it’s thought that President Vladimir Putin is hoping to attract overseas firms in a bid to improve standards.
