Recent trailers for the new Flatliners have offered enough for fans to get excited at the prospect of a 'sequel-feel reboot'.

However, in all the trailers before now, we hadn't yet seen Kiefer Sutherland's Nelson, the iconic character from the 1990 cult movie who will be returning for this second run, albeit as a medical professor working under a different name/alias.

Fortunately, this has now been rectified, as Nelson's back in action in this new TV spot for the movie.

Even if it's a blink-and-you'll-miss-him kind of moment.

The 30-second clip begins with a look at a much older professor Nelson skulking in the background, while Ellen Page's Courtney leads a talk on what happens to us when we die.

Here he is again, in case you missed him first time around.

Flatliners will once again follow the lives of five medical students who embark on a daring experiment by stopping their hearts for short periods, unaware that it will trigger a series of awesome powers as well as unfortunate experiences.

Kiefer's appearance aside, the 30-second tease doesn't offer us much more than we've seen in previous trailers: clips of the students struggling to bring each other back after stopping their hearts, Nina Dobrev's character Marlo being intermittently suffocated with a plastic bag, and Courtney declaring that she 'thinks she is going crazy'.

But we're excited all the same.

Flatliners is in cinemas September 29.
