Luckless Kieran Tierney faces another injury nightmare as he was stretched off for Scotland to all but end his participation at Euro 2024.

The Arsenal star frantically signalled to the bench for immediate medical help as he winced in pain after crumpling to the turf holding his hamstring. His knee also seemed to buckle as he pulled up in pain. Tierney has been hit with multiple injury setbacks during his career – with this the third muscle injury in the past 12 months.

The medical team acted quickly and placed him on a stretcher before he was replaced by Scott McKenna with Scotland doing battle with Switzerland in a pulsating clash in Group A. And the latest blow was keenly felt among Arsenal supporters – many who are desperate for Mikel Arteta to give him a fresh chance next season after his setbacks at Real Sociedad.

Tierney – reportedly available to interested suitors for £10m – is likely facing a long rehab in a bid to once again comeback from a serious setback. Scotland could also change shape for their final game with the 3-5-2 used to get the best out of the former Celtic star. One Gooner said: "I love Tierney but he’s had so much bad luck with injuries." Another added: "Hope he’s OK – fantastic player."
