Killer Whale Launches Seabird Into Air While Teaching Calf to Hunt

It was not a great day to be a seabird in Monterey Bay, California, on Saturday, September 7, as an energetic pod of killer whales was teaching their calves to hunt by launching waterfowl into the air.

Evan Brodsky captured this video while aboard a boat operated by Monterey Bay Whale Watch. The footage shows the vigorous orcas breaching, spy-hopping, tail-slapping, playfully interacting with each other, and flipping unlucky birds out of the water.
