The Killers - Wonderful Wonderful, review: Rockers reach for the stars

Have All the Songs Been Written? The Killers wonder on the closing track on their fifth album.

Of course not but the Las Vegas band can’t help encroaching on the territory of a few big names.

The lead single, The Man, is a funky disco number with a cheeky nod to David Bowie’s Fame.

They try Depeche Mode’s Biblical blues rock on The Calling, while the title track echoes The Chain by Fleetwood Mac.

They’ve been criticised for being too deeply in thrall to Springsteen and U2 in the past but all these heavyweight references don’t detract from the fact that Run for Cover and the driving synth rock of Tyson Vs Douglas are two of their finest anthems.

Wonderful Wonderful is great fun, light on its feet and, well, pretty wonderful really.
