'Killing Eve' leads the TV BAFTA nominations

BBC drama Killing Eve has dominated in the nominations for this year’s TV BAFTAs.

The spy thriller, created by Fleabag’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge, hauled in 14 nominations in all, including Best Drama

Meanwhile, just behind Killing Eve and receiving 12 nominations is A Very English Scandal, the Hugh Grant and Ben Whishaw-fronted drama about the Jeremy Thorpe scandal in the 1960s.

Killing Eve will go up against ratings hit Bodyguard for Best Drama, along with crime thriller Save Me and Informer, the counter-terrorism drama starring Paddy Considine and Nabhaan Rizwan.

Bodyguard itself is up in five categories, including Leading Actress for Keeley Hawes, though Richard Madden appears to have been snubbed in the Leading Actor category.

Controversially, Ant & Dec are nominated twice, for Entertainment Programme and Entertainment Performance, both for Saturday Night Takeaway.

The nomination comes despite Ant McPartlin’s near year-off working following his conviction for drink driving.

Bros fans also have something to celebrate, with a nomination coming for documentary After The Screaming Stops in the Specialist Factual category.

The film was a word-of-mouth hit when it was aired over Christmas last year.
