Sex and the City star Kim Cattrall appears to have reignited her feud with Sarah Jessica Parker, saying there is no way she will ever agree to a third film in the franchise.

On screen, Cattrall and Parker played best friends Samantha Jones and Carrie Bradshaw for six TV series and two films, but the reality is said to be very different with long-running rumours about rows between the pair.

Asked by the Mail on Sunday whether she would take part in a Sex and the City 3, Cattrall replied immediately: “Never. It’s a no from me.”

In a comment that appeared to be aimed at Parker, she added: “You learn lessons in life and my lesson is to do work with good people and try and make it fun.”

There had previously been rumours that Cattrall had felt left out by Parker and their co-stars Kristin Davis, who played Charlotte York, and Cynthia Nixon, who played Miranda Hobbes, as well as stories of bust-ups over mismatched salaries.

However, when Cattrall’s brother Chris died in 2018, the depth of bad feeling became public in her reaction to a tweet from Parker offering condolences.

She replied: “I don’t need your love or support at this tragic time @sarahjessicaparker.

“My mom asked me today ‘when will that @sarahjessicaparker, that hypocrite, leave you alone?’ Your continuous reaching out is a painful reminder of how cruel you really were then and now. Let me make this VERY clear. (If I haven’t already) You are not my family. You are not my friend. So I’m writing to tell you one last time to stop exploiting our tragedy in order to restore your ‘nice girl’ persona.”

Cattrall also included a link to a New York Post story alleging that a “mean girls culture” had destroyed Sex and the City.

Parker has denied there was a feud, telling Vulture: “I’d just like to remind everybody that there is no catfight.

“I have never uttered an unkind, unsupportive, unfriendly word, so I would love to redefine it.

However, Cattrall appeared on Piers Morgan’s Life Stories where she said that she was “never friends” with her three co-stars, and the show’s executive producer Michael Patrick King has also confirmed the disagreement over pay rumbled on for many years.
