Kim Jong-un's jogging bodyguards steal the show at historic Korea summit

Now, that’s security.

Kim Jong-un has been shown being driven along in a black Mercedes limo surrounded by 12 jogging security guards during his groundbreaking peace summit with South Korean leaders.

Video footage shows the suited bodyguards completely surrounding the car as he made his way to and from the first stage of the summit, where he met South Korea’s President Moon Jae-in.

Talks are taking place on the hotly-contested border between the two countries who, for now, are officially still at war, even though hostilities ended in 1953.

The leaders have agreed a number of issues, including a nuclear moratorium, finally formally ending the war and agreeing families split by the petition of the peninsula to meet.

But after the talks, Kim decided to be driven back to his side of the border.

As his car set off, the bodyguards sprung into action to make sure the vehicle was fully protected.

They were seen doing the same thing after the lunch break.

The bizarre sight immediately became a hit on social media, with some claiming that the bodyguards had been given a good workout by running alongside the car.

Others asked if the North Korean leader was desperate to order his chauffeur to drive faster so the bodyguards had to run quicker.

The meeting is set to offer North Korea a ‘new history’ with the South, said Kim.

He added that the meeting was a ‘starting point’ for peace between the two countries.

The symbolic meeting comes just months after war-like rhetoric between the two countries and North Korea and the USA, with Kim trading barbs with President Donald Trump.

Kim and Trump are set to meet soon in a summit at a place and date still to be decided.
