Kim Kardashian loves this hilarious Halloween homage

Imitating every move of the Kardashian West clan might be a dream for many. But for two California-based bloggers, it’s standard reality.

What Would Yeezus Wear is the handle of the popular Instagram account run by Kathleen Lee and Katie Linder, who recreate the style of one of Hollywood’s most fashionable couples. With the help of friend and photographer Katie Ives, the three began the passion project over three years ago on a whim, and haven’t stopped since. Their most recent accomplishment: getting retweeted by Kim Kardashian West herself.

“The best costume!!!!” Kardashian tweeted, along with a link to a photo from Lee and Linder’s page. The snap, which replicates one of Kardashian’s own retro-styled Instagrams, focuses on baby Saint crawling on the floor in a red velour jumpsuit — a piece of clothing Lee was thrilled to find in a thrift store — and is captioned with a take on Kanye‘s lyrics, “You need to crawl ’fore you ball.”

“For this look, we knew for a long time we wanted to get that red sweatsuit and that whole retro shoot she did after coming out of social hiatus,” Lee tells Yahoo Lifestyle, “because it’s just iconic and Saint is really coming into his own as a fashionisto.”

The hilarious Lee has played a range of characters on the Instagram page, switching off with Linder on who is to be photographed as Kim, Kanye, North, and now, Saint. But the popularity of this image in particular isn’t surprising, given that she notes that the photos featuring the West children are often fan favorites. Still, Kardashian’s input was a shock.

“I literally reactivated our Twitter that morning. I made it when we got started but never really got around to posting, and just thought it would be fun to turn on after our big weekend of shooting,” Lee says. “When you start getting all those notifications, your phone freezes, and it can take a while to figure out what happened, and I gagged when I saw it was Kim.”

Being recognized by their muse was a big moment for the ladies behind the ‘gram. Especially when considering how much actually goes into each of their replicated shots. From identifying the photos that they want to copy, to tracking down the outfits and then planning the photoshoots, Lee admits that it can be quite a process. And although they’ve had a lot of luck sourcing outfits among the three women, they’ve at times turned to Linder’s fashion-designing husband and Lee’s seamstress mother for help.

A few of their other notable pics include Kimye’s 2013 Met Gala look and, of course, North’s own viral photo of herself in mother Kim’s thigh-high metallic boots.

This official recognition of the Instagram page is perfectly timed with Halloween. So if you’re still wondering how to dress up for the occasion, you might want to consider what Yeezus would wear.
