Kim Kardashian West's shapewear brand Skims to design underwear for Team USA at Tokyo Olympics

Kim Kardashian West's company Skims has been chosen as the official underwear designer for Team USA's female Olympic athletes.

Announcing the partnership on social media, the reality TV star said the firm would design "undergarments, pajamas and lounge wear" for athletes at the Tokyo games.

Kardashian West said she has admired Olympians since she was a girl because of Caitlyn Jenner's career as a gold-medal-winning decathlon athlete.

"I travelled (with) my stepdad and family to all different cities for the Olympic trials, the Olympics and track meets of @Caitlyn_Jenner's and at every stop, I would buy an Olympic t-shirt as a souvenir," she tweeted.

"When I received the call inviting Skims to be part of @TeamUSA, every moment I've spent admiring the strength and energy of the Olympians from the sidelines came full circle."

The TV star launched KKW Beauty in 2018 and Skims in 2019 after the initial brand name Kimono was dropped following accusations of cultural appropriation.

Skims sells underwear and loungewear in Kardashian West's minimalist style and has proven popular during the work-from-home era.

Earlier this year, she was added to Forbes' billionaire list - which put her net worth at $1bn (£720m) thanks to her cosmetics and clothing lines, as well as income from TV, endorsement deals and investments.

In February, she filed for divorce from rapper Kanye West, who she married in 2014 and has four children with.
