Kim Kardashian West has worn some memorable yet confounding looks through the years. Take, for example, her floral "sofa meme" gown at the 2013 Met Gala, or her waist-altering Mugler look at this year's fête. Last night's outfit—a denim-on-denim number with leather chaps—appears to be the latest addition to the ever-growing list of stunning-yet-confusing ensembles.
Kardashian and her husband Kanye West made a joint appearance in New York City to support Burberry chief creative officer Riccardo Tisci, who was honored at the Wall Street Journal Innovator Awards. The Kardashians and Jenners have long been friends with the Italian designer, from his years at Givenchy and beyond, so it's no surprise that Kim opted to wear a look from the British brand for the occasion.
What may come as a surprise, however, are the blue leather chaps that hugged her legs and stretched all the way up to her hips over her jeans. How did they stay in place without falling off? Were they sewn into the pants? Were they attached to Kim's coordinating blue boots? The questions surrounding the denim optical illusion abound.
Kim's top, however, was much easier to explain. She sported a matching off-the-shoulder blouse with a corset silhouette and puff sleeves.
