Kim Kardashian's Former Assistant Shares the Reason She Was 'Fired' in 2017: 'It Was Such a Huge Deal'
Stephanie Shepherd called her firing the 'most beautiful uncoupling' as she added, 'She still is someone I go to for personal and professional advice all the time'
Stephanie "Steph Shep" Shepherd is looking back on the time Kim Kardashian fired her as her assistant in 2017.
"Well, I got fired," she recalled on The Skinny Confidential Him & Her Podcast. "It was such a huge deal at the time. I mean, fired in the nicest sense of the word. I was crying, she was crying, because we are friends. And honestly, that friendship is really important to both of us."
Shepherd, 34, claimed that she felt ready to “move” on and confessed she didn’t know if there was “anything more that I can contribute” to Kardashian, 43.

"I think she probably felt that and saw that," she said of the Skims founder. "She was like, 'You need something more. You have this thing, pursue that. I'll support you, whatever you need.' And it was the most beautiful uncoupling."
Shepherd began working with the KKW Beauty mogul in 2013 but they parted ways professionally in the fall of 2017. At the time, a source said the decision was made after Shepherd wanted to transition into a larger role in Kim’s businesses and it didn’t work out. (Shepherd was made COO of Kardashian West Brands in 2016.)
Shepherd and Kardashian have remained close friends since parting ways professionally. She has appeared on both Keeping Up With The Kardashians and Hulu’s The Kardashians.
"[We've] never been closer, and she still is someone I go to for personal and professional advice all the time," she added.

Shepherd even credits the Kardashian-Jenner family for teaching her “everything that I know” about the industry.
"It's a machine and it's meticulous," she said of the famous family’s work ethic. "I always say it's like my graduate school because I learned everything that I know about sending an email to an agent or an editor or booking glam or finding a photographer… every single step of everything that you have to know about being an entrepreneur in the entertainment business I learned from working under Kim."

In a video shared on Kardashian’s website/app in August 2018, the longtime friends addressed rumors that their decision to cease their working relationship was proof they were feuding.
"You guys, we’ve never had a feud,” Kardashian shared, noting that she respected Shepherd’s decision “to go in a different direction."
“I’m so happy she wants to go off and do other things,” the American Horror Story: Delicate star added.
