King Charles III Shakes Hands With Well-Wishers Outside Buckingham Palace

A large crowd gathered outside Buckingham Palace in London, England, to welcome the new king, Charles III, on Friday, September 9, following the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, on Thursday.

Video recorded by Mark Vellacott shows King Charles shaking hands with those at the front of the large gathering after arriving at Buckingham Palace for the first time as monarch.

The king is then seen walking with Camilla, the Queen Consort, viewing the flowers left outside the palace in dedication to his mother, as the crowd cheers and sings God Save the King. Credit: Mark Vellacott via Storyful
