King Charles’s possible US visit could be ‘made difficult’ by relationship with Prince Harry
King Charles's possible visit to the US could be 'made difficult' due to the monarch's relationship with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, a royal expert has claimed.
With the King set to resume his full schedule of royal visits in the new year as he continues to recover from cancer, the Daily Mirror's Royal editor, Russell Myers mused that a trip to the US could be on the cards, as he was speaking on Pod Save The King.
Host Ann Gripper disagreed, as she said: "I am going to shoot down your theory of them going to America, because, who else is in America?
"Meghan and Harry, then it becomes an international, diplomatic….Are they going to come to New York, we’ve come half the way across the world and you’ve just come to the other side of the country, and should we just meet up, can we see the grandkids. If it’s not actually a thing, it will be a thing we’re all talking about.”
Saying that it would be 'really difficult' for the King to make the move, she added: "Can’t the King say look, ‘I know you would like me to and it would be helpful but it would be really difficult, can’t he come here? We’ve got a nice castle, we can put him up, he’ll like it.”

The last time Harry came face to face with his father was reportedly in February after it was announced that the 76-year-old was diagnosed with an unnamed form of cancer. Making a 10-hour trip from LA to the UK it was also widely suggested that Harry's visit was short lived and didn't include meeting up with his older brother, William.
Meanwhile, with it being mooted from some quarters that the King could travel to the US next year, in October he made his first royal visit abroad, since his cancer diagnosis in February and it has been confirmed that he is set to return to his usual schedule of overseas visits in the new year, despite the exact locations still to be revealed.
After the King visited Australia last month a royal official said: “I think it’s great testament to the King’s devotion to service and duty that he was prepared to come this far and he was incredibly happy and very, very determined to do so.”
And with his recent trip a success, they added that a 'pretty normal' schedule lies ahead for the monarch: "We’re now working on a pretty normal looking full overseas tour programme for next year, which is a high for us to end on, to know that we can be thinking in those terms.”
