Uhhhhh, Hey Beavis…. some of our favourite animated comedies could soon be back on telly.

Not many animated shows have maintained their following like Beavis and Butt-Head and King of the Hill, which makes it kind of unbelievable that neither have been brought back in this era of TV revivals (aside from Beavis and Butt-Head's brief re-emergence in 2011).

The good news is that co-creator Mike Judge has been thinking a lot about bringing back both shows, but with some big changes to bring them up-to-date.

"It would have to have a passage of time," Judge said of a King of the Hill revival. "People have grown up. I think The Simpsons are so iconic just the way they're drawn, you can keep Bart that same age for 60 years.

"Our characters, it was starting to strain a little bit to have Bobby still be that age for that long."

As for reviving Beavis and Butt-Head, he said: "That's possible too. It came up two months ago. It's just a matter of coming up with an idea that feels like it's worth doing. They've talked about a movie possibly."

His interest in a revival echo comments made by Fox CEO Dana Walden, who said last year that she was keen to meet with Mike Judge and co-creator Greg Daniels to make more of King of the Hill.

"We had a very preliminary conversation given what's going on in the country, they had a point of view about how those characters would respond," she teased. "But again, it was one meeting and I hope to revisit it.

"The meeting was probably two and a half months ago. They're both very busy and it was really just a first exploratory, 'Are you excited about this? Is there potential in that future?' And they were both excited about it but they're working on a lot of different things individually, so it's about finding time."

King of the Hill originally aired from 1997 to 2010 on Fox in the US, while Beavis and Butt-Head's original run on MTV lasted from 1993 to 1997. A film spin-off, Beavis and Butt-Head Do America, was released in 1996.
