Kingsnake Shows Off Climbing Skills at Coronado National Memorial

A Sonoran mountain kingsnake demonstrated its climbing skills on a wall outside the Coronado National Memorial in southern Arizona on Thursday, September 29, carefully moving upwards along grooves between bricks, the National Park Service (NPS) said.

“You never know who might stop by the visitor center,” NPS staff wrote on Facebook.

According to the NPS, the Sonoran mountain kingsnake (Lampropeltis pyromelana) can be identified by its red, black, and white bands and can measure between 18 and 42 inches in length.
