Kirklees boy, 11, not attending school as family who can't afford uniform 'in tears'
A family in Kirklees were unable to send their 11-year-old son to school in his first year of seniors due to the cost of uniform.
The cost of school uniform can be tricky to manage for many families, with parents and guardians across the country forced to cut their costs to kit their children out at the start of a new school year.
The cost of living crisis continues to affect each and every one of us and sadly, sometimes, a change in circumstances can stretch people beyond their limits.
One local family recently found themselves in the devastating situation of not being able to send their son to school due to struggling to afford the appropriate clothing and shoes for him.
Unsure where to turn the family were referred to local community hero Tanisha Bramwell and thankfully she answered their call for aid.
Taking to her Instagram page Tanisha penned: "I received a call today from Ghulam Rasool, he explained there is a family with an 11-year-old who isn’t attending school at the moment as the family simply can not afford the uniform.
"I referred them to Uniform Exchange for PE items and support, and in the mean time, I am purchasing a new uniform tomorrow morning."
Ghulam Rasool commented on the post to share the young boys reaction, he penned: "While talking to the little boy, I said that Tanisha will help you to get the uniform he smiled and tears started to pour down from his eyes.
"I to was about to cry remembering how difficult it was for me when my children were going to school, to make him smile I gave him free hair cut, over all thank you so much Tanisha."
The post was quickly flooded with comments as the local community praised Tanisha and her team for providing the young boy with support during his time of need.
Pat Woods wrote: "Thank you Tanisha and Ghulam, what is this Country coming to that people can't afford the things they need. So glad the young man has what he needs and is happier."
