Kirstie Allsopp quits Twitter after 'iPad smashing' backlash
Location, Location, Location presenter Kirstie Allsopp deactivated her Twitter account on Tuesday following backlash after revealing on Jeremy Vine On 5 she ‘smashed’ her children’s iPads.
Speaking to Vine she confessed she’d broken her sons Bay, 12 and Oscar, 10, iPads after they used them outside of their permitted ‘tablet time’.
“All of those rules got broken and in the end I said ‘right, that’s it,” she said.
This led to an influx of negative Tweets protesting her breaking the expensive devices (typically ranging between £250-£800 per device), with some calling her actions ‘stupid’ and another a ‘fortnight parent.’
Smashing iPad's is just stupid Kirstie Allsopp. All it teaches your kids is you have no sense of perspective or self-control. And you wonder why they ignore your rules.

it seems “fortnite parents” are having trouble problem solving… so before you go smashing an ipad(idiot) you can turn off your internet(omg) you can even deactivate your kid’s account(what?!) PARENTal controls (r this for mee?!)

imagine smashing an iPad to keep it from a child instead of putting it on top of the fridge

While Allsopp has deactivated her account as of Tuesday afternoon, we have a feeling she’ll be back online tweeting fairly soon. As this is not the first time she’s deactivated her account.
Indeed in July 2017 she briefly deactivated her account after being slammed by Twitter users after responding to a US journalist’s questioning of why British people tend to keep their washing machines in their kitchen as opposed to in a separate room.
Allsopp tweeted her response as: “It is disgusting, my life’s work is in part dedicated to getting washing machines out of the kitchen.”
