Gene Simmons has issued a statement after being accused of sexual battery.

The KISS star is being sued by a radio and television broadcaster who says he grabbed her and made "unwanted, unwarranted sexual advances" during an interview last month.

However, taking to Facebook on Sunday (December 17), Simmons announced his intent to "defend himself against any alleged charges" and denied the accusations against him.

"Friends," he said. "I intend to defend myself against any alleged charges you may have been reading about in the media.

"For the record, I did not assault the person making these accusations in the manner alleged in the complaint or harm her in any way.

"I am conferring with my lawyers with the aim of vigorously countering these allegations.

"And I look forward to my day in court where the evidence will prove my innocence."

The allegations included in the lawsuit against Simmons include sexual battery, gender violence, battery and assault (via Billboard).

The lawsuit says the alleged incident happened while the unnamed plaintiff was interviewing Simmons and his KISS bandmate Paul Stanley at their Rock & Brews restaurant at San Manuel Casino in California.

The plaintiff claims Simmons repeatedly grabbed her hand and "forcefully placed it on his knee and held it on his knee". It also alleges that Simmons "forcibly flicked/struck" her throat.

The lawsuit was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court on Friday (December 15).
