The Kissing Booth star Joey King is reportedly in talks to star as an assassin opposite Brad Pitt in his new action-thriller film, Bullet Train.

According to Deadline, the film is being helmed by Hobbs & Shaw director David Leitch, who will also supervise the script (written by Zak Olkewicz).

The movie is based on the Japanese novel Maria Beetle, by best-selling author Kotaro Isaka. The story follows several gang members who find themselves on the same train from Tokyo to Morioka.

Pitt signed onto the film shortly after Leitch became attached. It marks his first movie commitment since winning his first Oscar for acting in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood.

Filmmakers are apparently aiming to start pre-production on Bullet Train this autumn, in Los Angeles.

King recently starred in the sequel to hit Netflix film The Kissing Booth, about a teenage girl’s romance with her best friend’s older brother.

Both films received negative reviews, amid criticism that the central relationship presented misogyny and toxic behaviour as romantic traits.

A third film, The Kissing Booth 3, is in post-production and is scheduled for a 2021 release.

King, 21, received acclaim in 2019 for her starring performance in the true-crime drama series The Act, based on the real-life story of Gypsy Rose Blanchard and the murder of her mother, Dee Dee Blanchard.
