Former Game of Thrones star Kit Harington has explained why he won't watch House of the Dragon.

Harington starred as the North's heroic warrior Jon Snow throughout the HBO fantasy show's eight seasons, earning two Primetime Emmy Award nominations.

He has moved on to the third season of Industry, and he told the Associated Press that he's not keeping up with Thrones' prequel series HOTD.

"I think it's, for me, I spent too long there," he replied. "I wish them all the best and I hope [and] hear it's really wonderful and going really well.

"But I don't think I'll ever watch that show, and I don't think I'll watch Game of Thrones again for very many years."

The actor went on: "It's taken a few years to put [Game of Thrones] in the rearview mirror. I'm not sure whether it really is, fully, in the rearview mirror. I think it takes a long time."

For a time, Harington was attached to reprise his role as Jon Snow in a Game of Thrones spinoff, but he revealed last spring that the project had been shelved.

"In development, you look at every angle, and you see whether it's worth it. And currently, it's not," he told Screen Rant. "Currently, it's off the table, because we all couldn't find the right story to tell that we were all excited about enough. So, we decided to lay down tools with it for the time being.

"There may be a time in the future where we return to it, but at the moment, no. It's firmly on the shelf."

Aside from his new role in Industry, Harington will share the big screen with Naomi Scott in the upcoming romantic drama Eternal Return.

Game of Thrones seasons 1-8 are available on DVD and Blu-ray. House of the Dragon airs on HBO and Max in the US, and on Sky Atlantic and NOW in the UK.
