With Game of Thrones drawing to a close after eight years, some of its cast are already signing up to new projects, while others are taking time out of the spotlight.

Jon Snow actor Kit Harington is yet to pick his first major post-GoT project, but speaking to Digital Spy and other press, he did rule out one thing – becoming a rom-com leading man.

"I can say that definitively – that's not something I want to do," he insisted.

But after a recent stint hosting Saturday Night Live, and taking on a decidedly un-Jon Snow role in the 2015 TV movie 7 Days in Hell opposite Brooklyn Nine-Nine's Andy Samberg, Harington is keen to pursue more comedy roles.

"I'd love to," he said. "I love doing really stupid shit."

Having played Game of Thrones' righteous King in the North for almost a decade, it's perhaps no surprise to hear that Harington also doesn't "feel like playing the hero anymore".

"I've played the hero for nine years – and a great, flawed, interesting hero, in my mind," he said. "But I want to play someone a bit more messed up."

Game of Thrones season 8 airs on HBO in the US and Sky Atlantic and NOW TV in the UK. Tune in to Digital Spy's Game of Thrones livestreams on Monday evenings, straight after each episode, on Instagram and Facebook.
