A knife was seized for destruction after police officers carried out patrols of a Swindon neighbourhood.

Officers were "out in the sunshine and hail" this week, patrolling areas in Penhill following reports from members of the public of suspicious activity in the area.

During their patrol, they searched a known drug dealing area and uncovered a knife, which was seized for destruction.

The patrol was posted on the Stratton, Central Swindon North and West Swindon neighbourhood policing team Facebook page.

A police spokesperson added: "They also popped in for a cuppa at the community cafe at John Moulton Hall run by the Penhill Street reps. It was lovely to see everyone there today.

"Please keep reporting your concerns to us so we can patrol effectively."
