Knives Out is leaving Netflix UK this month

Knives Out, the murder mystery film from Star Wars: The Last Jedi's Rian Johnson that stars Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Jamie Lee Curtis and a starry ensemble cast, is being removed from Netflix UK this month.

The streaming giant's page for the 2019 film states that the last day to watch the title on the service is June 22.

While Netflix did create and has exclusive rights to the sequel Glass Out: A Knives Out Mystery (and a third film that's not out yet), the first film is a Lionsgate joint that Netflix licensed for a short time, so this isn't like Disney+ controversially removing its own exclusive content.

At the moment, Knives Out isn't available for free on any other UK subscription service, but it is available to rent and buy from everything from Prime Video, Google Play, YouTube, Apple, Sky Store and more.

It's not the only big film leaving Netflix UK this month, either, as Bohemian Rhapsody is being removed in just one week's time.

As for if we could ever see a third Knives Out film join the franchise, Johnson spoke about the possibility in January when he revealed that he was looking at Agatha Christie's works for inspiration on where to take Benoit Blanc's adventures next.

"They felt like the most entertaining thing in the world. And we make these movies as entertainment first and foremost. What was exciting about doing [Glass Onion] was the notion of trying to emulate Christie with a completely new story," he told Variety.

"I'm starting to work on the third movie now, and that's also what's got me creatively jazzed: I don't have to replicate the last movie at all.

"The goal is to strike out in a completely new direction tonally and thematically."

Knives Out is available to rent or buy on DVD, Blu-ray or as a digital download – and it's streaming on Netflix until June 22 along with its sequel Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.
