Kristen Stewart has opened up about sexual harassment in Hollywood, saying that she has had to 'save' a number of women in the industry from unwanted advances.

In light of the recent allegations against Harvey Weinstein and the current dialogue about sexual abuse in the film industry, Kristen spoke out defiantly against the issue at ELLE's Women in Hollywood event.

Admitting she was "thankful" that conversations were being had publicly about the problem, Kristen told the audience: "We've all been talking about this forever."

Recalling how she has had to intervene to 'save' people while on-set, she explained: "I can't tell you how many times I've saved make-up artists, because it trickles down to make-up artists, camera assistants, from [directors of photography] who are like, 'Hey babe.'

"It happens on lesser scales, too. And when I say like 'saved', I mean momentarily been like, 'Hey, don't, f**ker'... It just keeps going every single day."

Adding that it's important to be aware of abuse and harassment on "every level", Kristen continued: "I can tell you that those girls are as duct-taped as one could possibly be, because they're in fear of getting their next job."

Also speaking at the event earlier this week was Reese Witherspoon, who revealed that she had been sexually assaulted by a director when she was just 16 years old.

"I wish that I could tell you that was an isolated incident in my career, but sadly it wasn't. I've had multiple experiences of harassment and sexual assault and I don't speak about them very often."
