A beauty queen was beaten to death with a hammer after she went to meet a man seeking to buy her car.

The body of Ksenia Metsner, 29, a finalist in the Mrs Russian 2016 pageant , was found wrapped in a polyethylene sheet on wasteland in Magnitogorsk in the Urals yesterday.

She lived in Florida but had returned to Russia with her husband Alexey, 31, and their two-year-old son for a holiday and to see her mother.

During the trip, Mrs Metsner advertised her Skoda Octavia for sale for 500,000 roubles (£6,100) and arranged to meet a potential buyer.

After she went missing and her phone stopped working, her husband called the man, who said they had agreed a deal and he had bought the Octavia.

He claimed she had driven to a car repair workshop where he was employed and then took a taxi home with the money.

However, police could find no record of Mrs Metsner summoning a taxi. Her body was found near the Yangelka river yesterday with multiple head injuries.

Police said the “buyer” was held on suspicion of murder.

The Metsners moved to Hallandale Beach over a year ago.
