Kyiv Hit by Missiles as UN Chief Meets Zelensky in Capital

Ukrainian officials said at least 10 people were injured when Russian missiles struck a 25-story residential building in Kyiv on Thursday evening, April 28, causing fires and partially destroying at least two floors.

The strikes came as Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres and Bulgarian Prime Minister Kiril Petkov were making visits to Kyiv for talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Ukraine’s foreign minister, Dmytro Kuleba, said the decision to carry out strikes as international leaders were in the city was a “heinous act of barbarism” that demonstrated Russia’s “attitude toward Ukraine, Europe and the world.”
