Kylie Jenner has been confirmed as the world's youngest ever self-made billionaire

Kylie Jenner has been officially confirmed as the world’s youngest ever billionaire, according to Forbes.

As part of their 2019 World Billionaires ranking, the magazine profiled Jenner, who reached $1 billion in profit two years faster than the previous incumbent youngest ever billionaire, Mark Zuckerberg. The profile deems her “the first selfie-made billionaire.”

Jenner’s wealth is thanks to her hugely successful Kylie cosmetics range, in particular, her lip kits. She started the business in 2015, aged 18, and has expanded the range to include eye and skin products, and brushes.

Although it first started out as only available online, the brand’s move into Ulta stores last year lead to huge profits for the young mogul.

Jenner credits her large social media following for helping her reach so many customers.

She told Forbes, “I popped up at a few stores, I did my usual social media — I did what I usually do, and it just worked.”

“I didn’t expect anything. I did not foresee the future. But [the recognition] feels really good. That’s a nice pat on the back.”

The brand’s popularity means news doesn’t come as a surprise. Last year, Jenner’s reported $900 million wealth led many to predict her reaching billionaire status by the end of the year.

The confirmation will be good news for Jenner, who last month was at the centre of family drama after her childhood best friend, Jordyn Woods, was implicated in a cheating scandal with the partner of Jenner’s sister Khloé Kardashian, Tristan Thompson. Jenner is yet to comment on the issue.

Along with her cosmetics empire, Jenner is a reality TV star, and mother to one-year-old Stormi.
