Kylie Jenner has received criticism for the video she shared of her "ridiculously" huge Christmas tree.

The reality star and beauty mogul, 25, posted a reel to Instagram of the tree being put up in her LA home and adorned with lights, with a glimpse of daughter Stormi helping with decorations towards the end.

Along with a Michael Bublé Christmas song accompanying the clip, Jenner wrote: "tis the season."

Sister Kourtney Kardashian commented, "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas", while friend Malika wrote "Soooo beautiful".

However, not all of her 373 million followers were as pleased.

"Shocking boast of wealth when so many hungry and poor children will look at this post. Humility," one social media user wrote.

Others echoed this with "This is obnoxious", "This is ridiculous", "So unnecessary" and "Tree prob cost more then [sic] my student loans".

Many also expressed their concern for the environmental impact of cutting down and decorating such a large tree.

"Beautiful tree. But isn’t it sad to see a tree get so big and be however old, cut down for a month of decorating and then thrown into a landfill? *sigh*," commented one.

"This makes me angry man, like why would someone chop off a tree big as this one, only for have it for 2 weeks so u can throw it out..." added another.

More social media users wrote, "I just see global warming with lights. I guess we don't need oxygen in 2023", "That tree is older than you" and "This makes me kinda sad."

With what looks like people helping to install the giant tree at the start of the video, some also criticised the idea of apparently needing a whole team to make it happen.

"Imagine if you had to decorate your own tree yourself without hired help," one pointed out, while another added, "I feel sorry for the staff that's going to have to take that sh** down."

Of course, we don't know exactly where Jenner – who has previously received backlash for posting pictures of her private jet amid the climate crisis – got her tree from or what she intends to do with it post-Christmas. Perhaps she's grown it or rented it and intends to re-plant it...

While the majority weren't so sure, other fans stepped in to defend her.

"If all you haters are only going to criticize her.. stop following her!! It’s Christmas time .. Peace on earth ! Be kind!!!" one jumped in, while someone wrote hopefully, "it'll be put to good use after it done, they aren't gonna throw it away it'll be recycled."

A fan also made the point, "Does it annoy you as much as the ones put in shopping centers?" and added, "I personally refuse to get a natural tree because they’re crazy expensive and I’m terrified of my house burning but, I’m not gonna surf social media to bash everyone that does.

"I’m happy to see post of people with so much Christmas spirit. Pretty sure that huge trees like this don’t just get trashed."

Jenner, who shares Stormi Webster, four, as well as nine-month-old son, still officially called Wolf Webster, with Travis Scott, uploaded a vlog of her Christmas decorations in 2019, gaining more than 21 million views. "Christmas is my favorite time of the year, and I love making my house festive for the holidays," she wrote as the caption for the video, which also features younger Stormi being given a larger-than-life playhouse.

One thing is for sure, the Kardashians and Jenners are known for going all out in the holidays. For Thanksgiving they went very Bridgerton-esque with regal portraits of family members plastered on the wall, while Kim Kardashian recently showed off her terrifying decorations for Halloween.
