Ashley Cole is still somewhat despised by Arsenal fans after his infamous departure from the club in 2006.
Cole reportedly turned down £55,000-a-week from the Gunners and instead decided to join Chelsea, a move that was poorly received by Arsenal supporters but ultimately took Cole's career to bigger and better places.
After winning two Premier Leagues and three FA Cups with Arsene Wenger's side, Cole joined Stamford Bridge club Chelsea in a deal worth £5m with William Gallas moving across London and won another Premier League, four more FA Cups as well as a Champions League and Europa League.
But when confronted with his failure to sign a contract worth £55,000-a-week by a fan, Cole was typically abrasive in his response.
@TheRealAC3 Mate, the average uk workers earn 20k a year but you don't see them being whiny about it, you got offered 55k a WEEK!

When told of the reported UK workers' average salary, Cole replied: "
I'm not average
now go sleep son".
There is a big disconnect between fans and players in the modern age and Cole's comments will definitely not have fixed that.
