You might want to brace yourself for this news: La La Land's director Damien Chazelle is teaming up with Harry Potter and the Cursed Child writer Jack Thorne on a TV musical you'll soon be obsessing over.

The two are at work on The Eddy, a drama based around the owner of a popular club and his trouble with the volatile people that his hot spot attracts (via The Hollywood Reporter).

Oscar winner Chazelle is known for turning his movies into love letters to the cities where they're set - New York City for Whiplash and, of course, Los Angeles for La La Land.

The Eddy will be centred around the nightlife scene in Paris - a fun choice since the fantasy sequence in La La Land ended with jazzman Sebastian (Ryan Gosling) starting a club in the City of Lights.

No TV network or streaming service is attached yet but we suspect the bidders have started queueing already, especially given the other creative talent involved.

Producing The Eddy will be Dave Matthews Band and Alanis Morissette's collaborator Glen Ballard and Alan Poul, who produced Six Feet Under and Westworld for HBO.

Let's just hope the presenters read the results correctly when The Eddy inevitably sweeps the Primetime Emmy Awards next year.

Along with directing The Eddy, Damien Chazelle is re-teaming with his La La Land co-star Ryan Gosling on the upcoming movie First Man - a biopic about the legendary NASA astronaut Neil Armstrong.
