La Palma Volcano Generates Heat-Fueled Whirlwind

Lava flow from the Cumbre Vieja volcano generated a heat-fueled whirlwind on the Spanish island of La Palma, footage shared by the Canary Islands Volcanology Institute (Involcan) on Wednesday, September 22, shows.

More than 6,000 people had been evacuated from at-risk areas as of Wednesday, Telecino reported, as the lava flowed towards the sea at a rate of 300 meters per hour.
