La Palma Volcano Thunders as Ash and Lava Shoot Into Sky

The Cumbre Vieja volcano continued to erupt on Wednesday, October 27, as ash rose into the sky in La Palma, Spain.

Yet another cone collapsed that morning, causing lava overflows and landslides.

The EU’s Copernicus Emergency Management Service said the lava flow had covered over 908 hectares (2,244 acres) as of Wednesday.
