Lady Gaga Just Hit the Red Carpet Wearing a Very Rare Jewel
What jewelry will she wear this time? Ever since her history making choice of the yellow Tiffany diamond at the Oscars, Lady Gaga’s jewels have been a source of intrigue. And remember those morganites at the Grammys that year? The press tour of her new movie Joker Folie à Deux seems to follow that daring pattern (yes, this is clearly jewelry ambition).
For the London premiere of the movie, Lady Gaga in a Celine superhero red gown and bolero jacket (almost cape like!) designed by Hedi Slimane chose pieces from the Tiffany & Co. High Jewelry Collection, including a three dimensional bracelet with a five carat yellow diamond at the center and a pair of one-of-kind earrings in platinum and 18k yellow gold with Fancy Intense Yellow diamonds.
But it was her brooch that was at the center of the jewelry conversation tonight. It was fixed to the jacket, a glimmer of diamonds and scarlet. The iconic Jean Schlumberger Bird on a Rock sat on an enormous red stone.
Was it ruby? Red tourmaline? No. Lady Gaga, she who always keeps us guessing on the red carpet, chose a Bird on a Rock centered on a 20 carat spessartine, rare in size and in color and believed to be invigorating for mind and body. All the better to fight villains of Gotham.
Gaga attended the star-studded event with her newly-minted fiancé, businessman Michael Polansky, and was also joined by Joker co-star Joaquin Phoenix on the red carpet. Joker Folie à Deux hits theaters in the U.S. on October 4.
