Lady Gaga’s Advice To Strictly’s Melvin Odoom

Strictly Come Dancing hopeful Melvin Odoom has had some ballroom advice from an unlikely source.

The presenter used an interview with pop queen Lady Gaga as an opportunity to pick the singer’s brain for some waltzing tips. Gaga has performed live on America’s Dancing with the Stars, and gave Melvin some rehearsal secrets he hopes will give him the edge on the show.

“She told me to turn off my phone before routines and shit off from everything mentally,” he told the Sunday Mirror. “and she said ‘be like a ninja’. Not sure what she meant, but nice to get her input.”

Hmmm, invisibility, shapeshifting and having control over the elements, we think Melvin. Should be a doddle.

Meanwhile, 36-year-old presenter Melvin has also been given some unlikely advice from dance partner Janette Manrara too.

Rather than load up on superfoods and kale smoothies ahead of the show, she wants him to down bucketfuls of coffee.

“I don’t generally drink caffeine, but I’ve been introduced to coffee in the last few days to get me alert for training. It’s my new best friend. I don’t know how I have survived without it.

“Rehearsals are going well, but it’s harder work than I thought. It’s been pretty intense, but Janette is a great teacher.”

Of course, Melvin spent last year over on The Other Side, hosting The Xtra Factor for Strictly’s ratings rivals over at ITV.

The star insists he’s not fazed by the switch and that his replacements Rylan Clarke-Neil and Matt Edmondson have wished him all the best.
