Lady Kitty Spencer's style transformation proves she takes cues from her aunt Princess Diana

It's all in the genes.

It feels like we just lost Princess Diana -- but the royal icon has been gone for 20 years. And though Prince William and Harry have done incredibly to carry on their mother's legacy, it's just not the same.

Fortunately, we can look to Lady Kitty Spencer to remind us (as if we needed reminding) of how poised and incredible Diana was. Di's niece is a spitting image of Diana -- and seems to give off a similar effervescence as the Princess of Wales herself did.

"I was so young [when Diana was alive]. There are only a few memories, but special memories and happy memories, and I'm so lucky to have those," she said about her late aunt to Vanity Fair.

29-year-old Spencer is the eldest daughter of Victoria Lockwood and Earl Charles Spencer, who was Princess Diana's younger brother. While her familial ties have cast a huge light on the Spencer family, she grew up away from the media, in South Africa with her mother and siblings. It was only in 2007 when she came into the public eye, spending time with her cousins William and Harry.

Over the years, the media has watched first hand as Spencer transformed from a young socialite to philanthropist. We saw her learn to gain her footing in bustling London -- and we can't imagine it was easy.

"I've always worked hard to have a healthy level of self-worth and I think that the charity work I do is great in terms of that because it means that everything is constantly put into perspective for me. I have tremendous gratitude for my own family and for the life that I live," she said to The West.

And with that, her sense of style has evolved too! She said about modeling, "I appreciate that it takes me to new places and you get to dress up and wear beautiful things and live in a little bit of a fairy tale for a day."

Truth: We'd like to get in on these fashion genes.
