When the Earl and Countess of Wessex whisked their children off for a family ski trip to the Swiss Alps, one of their chief concerns would have been to ensure no one ended up on crutches.

Sadly Lady Lousie's time on the slopes didn't quite go to plan.

The couple's oldest child, 14, was seen walking on crutches and requiring support to help her walk around the resort of St. Moritz.

Edward and Sophie had been joined by their children James, Viscount Severn, 10 and Lady Louise, who is a keen skier.

Sophie also joined her husband on the chair lift, looking a little cold as temperatures dropped below freezing
