Lake-Effect Snow Falls Near Rochester as Up to 4 Inches Forecast in Western New York

Lake-effect snow fell in western New York on December 22, as up to four inches of snow was forecast in parts of the region.

The National Weather Service (NWS) forecast heavy winds in many areas along the south and east shores of Lake Ontario. This footage, taken in Henrietta, south of Rochester, shows snow falling on Wednesday.

Local meteorologists tracked bands of lake-effect precipitation into Wednesday afternoon and forecast continued slick conditions at least through the early evening. Up to four inches could accumulate in Sodus, Weedsport, and Highmarket, the NWS said. Credit: @kayla_wx_lewis via Storyful
