Lake in Lincoln cordoned off after suspected grenade found

A lake in Lincoln has been cordoned off after a suspected grenade was found, police have said.

Officers were on the scene at Brayford Pool on Thursday morning and a 100-metre cordon put in place.

The cordon affected part of Brayford Wharf North and the University of Lincoln campus.

Just before midday on Thursday, police confirmed the suspected grenade was not live and the area was declared safe.

Members of the public were advised by Lincolnshire Police to avoid the area, but the cordon has now been lifted.
