Lanarkshire cops seize £600k of cocaine after stopping car as two men charged

Police have seized drugs worth approximately £600,000 after a car was searched on a Lanarkshire road.

Officers from Police Scotland stopped the vehicle on the A702 near Abington on Friday afternoon (September 27) where they found cocaine valued at hundreds of thousands of pounds.

Two men, aged 43 and 36, have been arrested and charged in connection with the recovery. They are due to appear at Hamilton Sheriff Court on Monday (September 30).

Detective Superintendent Steven Elliot said: “Recoveries such as this highlight our determination to protect the public from this type of harmful criminality.

“It also underlines our commitment to the Serious Organised Crime Taskforce and the country's Serious Organised Crime Strategy and we will continue to work with partner agencies to tackle this issue and make our communities safer.
