Fire crews in Lancashire have stated they attended seven deliberate fires on Bonfire Night.

Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service (LFRS) said they were sent to the infernos on Tuesday (November 5). However, the number is positive as it means the service attended 70% fewer intentional fires than last year.

Firefighters also put a stop to 16 out of control bonfires and two firework incidents. On the night itself, LFRS states there were 239 emergency calls made to 999.

A spokesperson said: "Whilst it was still a very busy night for our crews, this reduction in deliberate fires meant we could focus our efforts on real emergencies.

"We are grateful to everyone in Lancashire who took our safety advice and attended public events. Thank you!"
