A Blackburn-based energy company proposes to site the first of its vtherm hubs on grassland outside its head office. Vital Energi has asked Blackburn with Darwen Council for planning permission for the unit at its Century House, Roman Road HQ.

A supporting statement says: “The applicant has developed a standardised modular unit called a ‘vTherm Hub’ able to supply heat to multiple buildings. As such it can be economically beneficial to the consumer whilst reducing carbon emissions.

“The first market has been identified as residential, multiple occupancy high-rise and mid-rise buildings. However, the technology would be applicable to other building types such as offices.
