Landlords stage sell-out 'farewell party' at North Staffordshire pub

Pub landlords have staged a 'farewell party' this weekend. Josh and Samantha Durkin had been expected to remain at The Red House, in Caverswall, until October after six years behind the bar.

But they announced last month that their 'farewell celebration' was being held on June 8. It comes as the pub's head chef last week moved to the nearby Bobby's Ice Cream Parlour after six years at the venue.

Last night's £5-a-head 'farewell celebration' was a sell-out.

In a social media message to drinkers earlier this week, the venue stated: "We have not confirmed an official leaving date as yet but we will keep everyone updated as soon as a definite date has been confirmed. We would like to say thank you to each and everyone of you for the support and love we have had these last few weeks. Our kitchen is now permanently closed."
