Large Crowd Gathers in Austin During Anti-Police Violence Protest

Hundreds of demonstrators gathered in Austin, Texas, on May 30, to protest against police violence and the death of George Floyd, who died following his arrest in Minneapolis on May 25.

According to reports, crowds gathered at the Capitol building after rallying near the Austin Police Department. At one point, Interstate 35 was blocked by protesters, the report said.

Activists held protests in major cities across the US after video circulated of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin pinning Floyd to the ground with his knee on the 46-year-old black man’s neck. Floyd was declared dead soon after.
