The centre of Newcastle was packed to the rafters over the weekend as people flocked to the opening few days of Newcastle Christmas Market. And there was a new arrival for 2024 that attracted its fair share of attention.

As well as it beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Newcastle, it's also beginning to SMELL a lot like Christmas, with the return of the Market bringing will its all kinds of different aromas, from that all so familiar smell of mulled wine to roast chestnuts and Yorkshire Puddings.

And, if you nose leads you to the always extremely popular Yorkshire Pudding Wrap stand, you'll be right in vicinity to check out the latest addition to Newcastle Christmas Market's food line-up - Crumble Pots. The brand new stall, just a stone's throw away from Grey's Monument, has already generated a lot of buzz on social media, with people who headed for their first visit of the year to the Market on Saturday and Sunday, quick to share photos of what they'd bought, as many more queued up for a taste of the action.

Many of us were brought up with apple crumble being a staple dessert of our childhoods, but Crumble Pots take the much loved pud and take it to a whole different level. And they don't just stick with sweet crumbles as, among their list of dishes on sale at Newcastle Christmas Market is also a Christmas Dinner Crumble!

The contents of the already much sought after £8.50 dish includes chicken and chunky veg in a rich gravy, with creamy mash and a pig in blanket, all topped with creamy mash and sage and onion crumble. We've had Christmas dinner on a pizza before, in a sandwich and inside a Yorkshire Pudding wrap, but never in a crumble, so consider us intrigued!
