Large School of Migrating Bluefish Shimmer in Sea off Long Island

Captivating drone footage filmed over Water Mill, in Long Island, New York, on June 1, shows a large school of bluefish making its way north, as the species enters migration season.

According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, bluefish migrate seasonally, moving north in spring and summer as water temperatures rise, and then south in autumn and winter to waters in the South Atlantic Bight.

The video was shared to YouTube by local photographer Joanna Steidle. Steidle told Storyful, “The season has started here in New York and larger predators such as sharks are on their way!” Credit: Joanna Steidle via Storyful
