Strong winds and drenching rain hit southern Florida as Tropical Storm Elsa approached the state on July 5.
The National Weather Service issued a storm surge warning for the state’s west coast and the Florida Keys. The storm’s outer rain bands were also affecting the state’s east coast and had the potential to bring powerful winds, heavy rainfall and flooding.
