As the legalised pot industry spreads across the USA, dispensaries are getting into the holiday mood in Las Vegas.

Following the example of more conventional retailers, they are offering special Black Friday deals to customers, Associated Press reported.

More than 40 dispensaries are offering discounts on an array of products from concentrates to chocolates.

Offers include "buy one, get one free" on edibles. Other retailers are cutting prices.

Recreational pot has been legal in Nevada since July to those 21 and over.  They are allowed to buy up to an ounce of pot, which can only be consumed at home.

Enjoying a joint in casinos or on the Las Vegas strip remains illegal.

“Cannabis use has been misunderstood and vilified in our country for over 80 years, so this day will feel both surreal and celebratory,” said Andrew Jolley, owner of dispensaries and president of the Nevada Dispensary Association.

“We’re very excited about the first holiday season of adult-use in Nevada.”

Recreational pot use is currently legal in five states, with California, Massachusetts and Maine set to join them next year. A ballot is also planned for New Jersey in 2018.
