The Chase fans were particularly impressed by a contestant from Liverpool who appeared on Thursday night's episode of the ITV game show. Gerard wowed audiences with his general knowledge, as he hoped to take some money home to take his daughter Eliza on holiday.
Four contestants faced Mark Labbett, The Beast, in the ultimate quiz game. Gerard, 27 from Liverpool was up against The Beast, following two contestants who failed to make it back to the panel after losing their individual chases.
Gerard, a special needs teacher, faced the quickfire round and bagged himself £8,000 to take through to the next round. The Beast offered Gerard a higher amount of £40,000, but he chose to play it safe and stuck with the £8,000.
