Last of the Summer Wine 'treasure trove' exhibition and gift shop for sale at bargain price

Holmfirth's Last of the Summer Wine exhibition and gift shop has been put up with sale just under £20,000.

The attraction, described as a Summer Wine treasure trove, is said to be the only exhibition dedicated to the world's longest running TV comedy which had Holmfirth and its environs as a backdrop to the madcap adventures of Compo, Cleggy et al.

The exhibition rooms and gift shop are located on the site of characters Nora Batty and Compo’s cottage homes at 30A Huddersfield Road, Holmfirth.

The sale is being handled by business agent Ernest Wilson and is being advertised on social media. The listing says the business has low overheads, is easy to run. It says the exhibition show and gift shop would suit a "smart and enthusiastic owner for this fun venture."

The main sales listing states: "The main display room is a real treasure trove of Summer Wine memories, appealing not only to dedicated Summer Wine fans but just about anyone, and all age groups.

"In addition to the shop premises, the business also has a wonderful website which includes an online gift shop and e-commerce facility with the opportunity to ship goods worldwide.

"The exhibition and gift shop has been awarded a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence and holds an enviable 4.5 rating."

The business is for sale on a leasehold basis. There is a 10-year lease from 2018 with rent £650 per calendar month.

There is around £5,000 worth of stock and this will be in addition to the asking price of £19,950.

The current hours of opening are Monday 10.30am to 3pm, closed Tuesday and Thursday, Wednesday 10.30 to 3pm, and Friday to Sunday from 10.30am to 3pm.
